C9300-48P-E Power supplies
The Cisco Catalyst C9300-48P-E switch supports modular power supplies, giving you flexibility depending on your power and PoE needs.
The switch has two power supply slots: one active and one for redundancy.
- You can mix and match AC modules or use a blank cover in the second slot.
- Redundant modules are hot-swappable and can also provide extra PoE power.
- All modules support 100–240V AC input and include internal fans.

- Unified Management: The stack behaves like one switch, with a single IP address and configuration.
- Role Assignment: One switch becomes the active (master), and another becomes standby. The rest are members.
- Failover Support: If the active switch fails, the standby takes over seamlessly.
Stacking Requirements
- Same model family: Only other Cisco Catalyst 9200 Series switches can be stacked with the C9300-48P-E.
- License level match: All switches in the stack must run the same license level (e.g., Network Advantage).
- Compatible software: Ensure all switches are running compatible IOS XE versions.
- Stacking cables: Use Cisco-approved StackWise-160 cables to connect the switches via their StackWise ports.
Fan
The Cisco Catalyst C9300-48P-E switch uses field-replaceable fan modules designed for redundancy and hot-swapping, ensuring high availability and cooling efficiency.
Fan Module Details
- Redundancy: The switch uses two fan modules in an N+1 configuration. If one fan fails, the other can maintain cooling to prevent overheating.
- Hot-Swappable: You can remove and replace a fan module while the switch is running. Just make sure to replace it within 5 minutes to avoid thermal issues.
- LED Indicator: A green LED lights up when the fan is operating correctly
