Power supplies

Cisco Catalyst 9200 Series switches support dual field-replaceable power supplies. Each switch ships with one default power supply, and a second identical power supply can be purchased with the initial order or can be added at a later time. The second power supply can provide redundancy or additional power to PoE+ ports as needed.

Intelligent PoE+

●      IEEE 802.3at PoE+ (up to 30W per port) is supported on Cisco Catalyst 9200 Series switches with Full PoE+ Support Powers devices like IP phones, cameras, and wireless access points directly through Ethernet to lower the total cost of ownership for deployments. PoE+ removes the need to supply wall power to PoE-enabled devices and eliminates the cost of adding electrical cabling and circuits that would otherwise be necessary in IP phone and WLAN deployments. With Cisco Catalyst 9200 Series switches, PoE+ power allocation is dynamic, and power mapping scales up to a maximum of 30W of PoE+ power.

●      PoE Powered Device (PD) – Catalyst 9200CX-12T-2X2G can be powered through the uplink with IEEE 802.3bt class 6 or UPOE+ power from upstream switch.

●      Perpetual PoE is supported on Cisco Catalyst 9200 Series switches, and maintains the PoE+ power during a switch reload. This is important for critical endpoints such as medical devices and for Internet of Things (IoT) endpoints such as PoE-powered lights, so that there is no disruption during a switch reboot.

●      Fast PoE: When power is restored to a switch, Fast PoE starts delivering power to endpoints without waiting for the operating system to fully load, thereby speeding up the time for the endpoint to start up.

Stacking

Cisco Catalyst 9200 Series switch models are designed for stacking switches as a single virtual switch, enabling customers to have a single management plane and control plane for up to 384 access ports.

Stacking Capabilities of C9200L-24P-4G-E

  • Stacking Support: the C9200L series supports stacking using Cisco StackWise-80 technology.
  • Maximum Stack Members: You can stack up to 8 switches in a single stack.
  • Stacking Type: Only homogeneous stacking is supported—meaning all switches in the stack must be from the same series (i.e., all 9200L models).
  • Stacking Ports: These switches use StackWise-80 ports for stacking, which are located on the back of the device.
  • License Compatibility: All switches in the stack must run the same license level and compatible software versions

point to note: You cannot mix C9200L switches with standard C9200 switches in a stack.

Fan

Cisco Catalyst 9200 Series switches are equipped with two fans to ensure redundancy. These switches maintain system reliability through dual fan support. For the C9200 models, the fan modules can be replaced on-site, while the C9200L models have non-removable fan units.

 Warranty Coverage

The Cisco C9200L-24P-4G-E switch typically comes with an Enhanced Limited Lifetime Warranty (E-LLW), which includes:

  • Hardware replacement: Available through Cisco’s warranty program
  • Lifetime coverage: Valid for as long as the original customer owns the product
  • Next Business Day (NBD) replacement: For eligible failures, depending on location and availability
  • 90-day software warranty: Covers bug fixes and updates for Cisco IOS software
